Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with support and maintenance of the Cerner Clinical Exchange Platform (CEP):
    • Assist with connecting healthcare providers and onboarding data to the CEP platform
    • Manage PIX registry for patient records
    • Troubleshoot issues when they arise
    • Assist in developing HIE services that utilize the CEP platform
    • Become a subject matter expert for the CEP with solid understanding of the following, and keep current on industry standards for:
      • Document exchange including XDS (Cross enterprise document sharing)
      • HL7 CDA document architecture with HITSP standards applied.
      • Industry standards for Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs)
      • CONNECT NWHIN gateway transactions
  • Assist with support and maintenance of the MHIN DIRECT Messaging Platform:
    • Become a subject matter expert for the MIRTH DIRECT mail application
    • Create and maintain the Provider messaging directory in the DIRECT application
    • Maintain SSL Certificate encryption security certificates with other DIRECT mail providers and
    • Assist in developing HIE services that utilize the DIRECT Messaging Platform
    • Troubleshoot issues when they arise
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Under immediate supervision, generally relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.  Primary job functions occasionally require exercising independent judgment.



  • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree is desired



  • 0-2 years of experience in Healthcare field or related area is preferred
  • Entry level understanding of procedural programming structure
  • Experience in relational database structure as it pertains to report writing and data mining
  • Experience with data editing tools such as Excel, PSPad, Notepad++, EmEditor, Firstobject XML Editor is preferred
  • Experience in health care application integration and knowledge of healthcare messaging standards such as HL7, XML X12, DICOM, networks, transports, and TCP/IP is preferred but not required
  • Experience with the IHE integration profiles is preferred
